How does the BioMat Work?

The technologies underlying the BioMat are not new.  In fact, some of the underlying concepts have existed for more than a thousand years, while others have been refined or confirmed by modern science and medicine.  However, it is only recently that far infrared and negative ion technologies have been used in the development of medical products that are affordable enough for home users and independent health professionals.

The BioMat is made possible by three complementary technologies that work synergistically to deliver powerful healing treatments:

1. Negative Ion Technology

The first of these technologies first came to light when two gifted scientists, Dr. Erwin Neher and Dr. Bert Sakmann, discovered that ion channels exist in our body cells that are capable of stimulating the cells and altering the cell membranes to allow cells to communicate with one another.  These ion channels essentially act like “pores” in the cells, letting external stimuli deep into the center of the cell.  They are even capable of stimulating new memory traces in the brain!  Neher and Sakmann revolutionized the field of cell biology and received the Nobel Prize in 1991 for their discovery.

2. Far Infrared Spectrum Therapy

The effectiveness of light therapy has been acknowledged by the mainstream medical profession for some time now.  Laser light has been used to tone and rejuvenate skin and reduce fine lines. The beneficial properties of far infrared light have received particular attention from the scientific community in recent years, although the first research conducted on this part of the light spectrum was undertaken by NASA decades ago.

3. Natural Superconducting Properties Deliver Deep Treatment

The third technology incorporated into the BioMat is the oldest and most valued throughout the centuries. Amethyst’s healing powers have been celebrated for thousands of years.  The ancient Greeks believed it protected against intoxication. In fact, the word originates from the Greek word, “amethustos” or “sobriety.” Leonardo da Vinci believed that amethyst had the power to protect against evil and to increase intelligence. Buddhists use the stone to enhance peace and tranquility during meditation.  Today, modern science shows us that centuries of lore surrounding the stone’s healing powers are supported by its unique physical characteristics, including its piezoelectric properties, which allow it to carry both a negative and a positive charge simultaneously.  The outermost layer of every BioMat product is covered with channels of pure amethyst through which the far infrared rays must pass.  The superconducting properties of the amethyst layer turn these rays into long wavelengths capable of safely and deeply, penetrating the body.
